Sears Employee Charitable Fund
Since 1972, the Sears Employee Charitable Fund (SECF) has been making it easy for Sears associates to donate to the causes closest to their hearts. Through automatic payroll deductions and fundraising events staged throughout the year, the SECF raises money 365-days a year for a variety of worthy charities, including Canadian Cancer Society, United Way of Canada, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Alzheimer Society and the Canadian Diabetes Association. Sears Canada supports this associate-run program by covering all administrative costs, ensuring that 100 per cent of employee donations go directly to their chosen charities.
Through the SECF, Sears employees helped to improve the quality of life in their communities by contributing over $1,000,000 through payroll deductions to a number of registered charities across Canada over a two-year period (2009-2010).
From coast to coast, thousands of Sears Canada employees, in our stores, distribution facilities, call centres, headquarters and other administrative buildings, enthusiastically participate in the Company’s payroll deduction program, and helped to improve the quality of life in their communities.
