Disaster Relief

During times of unpredictable, large-scale strife, Sears has been an active fundraiser for large-scope disaster relief campaigns, which are organized by well-known and respected agencies and enterprises who can funnel donations to those who are in the greatest need.

Since 1997, Sears Canada has assisted in raising donations towards disaster relief using our network of stores across Canada and often extending our national toll-free call centre to collect monetary donations from our customers on behalf of well-respected relief agencies, or by providing in-kind donations to assist victims in their recovery efforts. For instance, in 2013, in addition to a cross-Canada fund-raising campaign, Sears donated and helped the Red Cross distribute blankets and towels to those communities affected by massive flooding in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Sears associates also volunteered in Red Cross warehouses and by setting up barbeques and food lines in affected towns.
