Congratulations to our 2012 Riders!

The focus of the Sears in Your Community program was expanded in 2008 to include a health component. Sears was receiving broad-based feedback from our stores that Sears associates and customers wanted to align with a health cause. Further research identified a need to promote awareness for childhood cancer in Canada with the understanding that childhood cancers are distinct from adult cancers in many ways and as such, deserve their own awareness campaigns and fundraising sources.

Sears aims to be a significant fundraising resource in the childhood cancer arena. Under the umbrella campaign, Show Your Face. Make a Difference. Fight Childhood Cancer., Sears works with children’s oncology centres and organizations, such as The Hospital for Sick Children (Toronto), Operation Enfant Soleil (Quebec City), Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation, BC Children’s Hospital (Vancouver), IWK Health Centre (Halifax), Janeway Hospital (St. John’s), Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (Ottawa) and Stollery Children’s Hospital (Edmonton), to present community events that create awareness for the cause and raise significant funds for kids cancer research and support programs. The addition of kids cancer to our growing list of community initiatives Sears supports enhances the mandate of investing in the healthy development of children and youth and gives the Sears community a cause with which they can resonate.

Donations to Sears Children’s Cancer Charities are administered and distributed through the Sears Canada Charitable Foundation. The Sears Canada Charitable Foundation is a registered Canadian charity established to collect and distribute donations to charitable organizations that support Sears Canada’s community investment mandate
