Case Study: A Cleaner, Greener Shoreline

Sears Head Office Green Team

Subject Profiled: Sears Head Office Green Team

Volunteers from Sears Head Office in Toronto participated in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, an annual conservation initiative led by WWF-Canada.

In spite of a looming rainstorm, 32 Sears associates set out to remove shoreline litter from the Lower Don River Trail. They returned with an amazing 368 pounds of shoreline litter, which was sorted into garbage, recycling and electronic waste. By safely disposing of these hazards, our volunteers made the shoreline and trails safer and more enjoyable for people and wildlife.

It wouldn't be a Sears Green Team event without a little fun. The hard work was followed by a Cleaner Shore Celebration, where we recognized the Trashiest Team (most garbage collected), Most Gung Ho Cleaners, Best Team Name, and Weirdest Item collected.

Sears volunteers look forward to removing even more garbage from our shoreline in future cleanups!
